Hiking and Cycling in the Deserts of Cabo

Exploring the beaches of Cabo San Lucas on foot may be an exciting way to while away the hours in Cabo, but you can make an exciting journey on the deserts of Cabo as well.

Hiking in the deserts of Cabo is best done during the winter, considering the high temperatures during summer. Although hiking can also be done during summer time but it is preferably done early in the morning. If you want to include hiking and cycling in your to-do list when going to Cabo, you can choose to go with experienced hikers or with a guided hiking tour from companies offering the service.

Seeing the vegetation area and rock formation in a desert are just few of the things you can enjoy in Cabo San Lucas. The most memorable experience when you hike is to see plant and animals native to the area. It is also advisable to wear boots during hiking since it is common to encounter jack rabbits and snakes along the way.

The mountains of La Laguna and fossil fields are some of the favorite hiking spots. You can also hike during the day or do overnight hikes and camping. Ecology and history are emphasized in guided hiking tours so as to enrich and spread the knowledge about the land.

Another recommendable hiking spot is the waterfalls at Santiago. The falls, popularly known as cascadas, can be found at the southern part of Santiago. It will only take you an easy half an hour climb through boulders of rocks and you will be met with a refreshing pool of water that would be great for a good swim.

There are also cycling adventures you may want to do in Cabo. Mountain bikes can be rented in an hourly basis at the Desert Park. Among the favorite spots for cycling in Cabo is the desert and at the old lighthouse area.

If you plan to ride in remote areas, it is advisable to bring along a detailed map or to make your ride safe, you can also get a guide and ride in groups to make also your adventure more fun.

Above all, you should not forget to wear and bring your safety gears when riding around Cabo in your mountain bikes.
