Hip Honolulu Nightclubs

With trendy designer drinks, microbrews, dance club themes, happening interiors, and night time art events, Honolulu nightclubs demonstrate that Hawaii offers more than just fun in the sun.

From trendy spots in Chinatown, nouveau venues in popular hotels, upscale national chains and fabulously over-the-top faux tiki bars, Honolulu after dark is experiencing a revival.

There’s a certain draw to a brewpub that has over 100 beers on tap, transported through five miles of ice cold metal piping. The fact that patrons wait up to an hour to get into Yard’s House in the Waikiki Beachwalk is proof of this fact.

Join in with the buzzing throngs of twenty and thirty-somethings as they taste sampler beer six packs, or try one of more than 40 different specialty martinis between each delicious appetizer.

Hanging Out After Work (pau hana)

Go to The Rumfire at Sheraton Waikiki, a 7,000 square foot beachfront lounge where you can both see and be seen. This spectacular lounge has been revamped, and its formerly dark interior now features phenomenal floor-to-ceiling views of Diamond Head and the Pacific Ocean.

The pau hana (after work) crowd enjoys wallet-friendly happy hour drinks and $6.00 signature cocktails. But when the stars come out, move on to a drinks menu featuring more than 100 types of rum and high-priced high-style cocktails.

Honolulu?s Best

Nominated the best among Honolulu nightclubs, urban-hip Pearl at the Ala Moana Shopping Center has bar areas, private tables and a cocktail menu designed by a Las Vegas master mixologist. If you stay late enough, it changes to a clubbing hotspot until 4am on Fridays and Saturdays.

While its not really considered part of the Honolulu nightclubs scene, ArtafterDark is a world class art and food event that shouldn’t be missed. Hosted by the Honolulu Arts Academy on most final Fridays of the month, recent events have included Tibetan sand painting, miniature Indian paintings, and Bhutanese monk paintings on surfboards!

Don’t worry about the early closing time; with so much to choose from, there’s always another night time hotspot to go to. For example, high-end wine bars are becoming more popular among Honolulu nightclubs. Amuse Wine Bar boasts more than 80 different wines on the menu. Patrons buy wine “credit cards” and use high-tech electronic carousels that dispense a customer’s choice of wine after swiping the card. Sunday nights are a great deal, since $25 will buy you double the amount of vintage blends.

Chinatown First Fridays

First Fridays in Chinatown are an experience every Honolulu traveler should enjoy. Modern and edgy art galleries open their doors and have a street party for art fans. Clubbers head on to Bar 35, where they sample delicious gourmet pizzas, enjoy specialty cocktails, taste beers from all over the world, and sip bubbly champagne in roof top and indoor bars. The entertainment is complete with live bands and hot DJs to get the party started and keep it going all night.

Another among the many happening Honolulu nightclubs in China town is Next Door. With its high ceilings and brick walls, this converted warehouse resembles a New York City loft. DJs known all over the nation play house, hip hop, and techno, and art films are screened there throughout the week.

For those who have energy left over after taking in some rays, Zanzabar is a great place to get your groove on with the best in hip hop, house, trance, techno, and top 40 to keep things lively and entertaining. With Egyptian inspired decor, the club also offers improv comedy and salsa dance lessons, and accommodates up to 800 guests. With so much sophistication and plenty of options, Honolulu nightclubs offer world class entertainment.
